Sara Alicia Costa AIA

Registered Architect, LEED AP

Sara Alicia Costa graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Architecture. She has 20 years of experience designing architecture and interiors for a wide variety of project types including restaurants, retail, commercial, and residential buildings where she learned the importance of design integration and attention to detail.

Sara’s background leans into sustainable design and appreciation for vernacular architecture, responsive to the site’s culture and micro-climate. While at the University of Texas, at Austin, she spent a semester abroad studying Architecture in Tuscany. Sara returned to join UT’s Design Build Texas team, where she helped design and construct a sustainable Hill Country home featuring a rainwater catchment system. The project received a Texas Association of Architects Studio Award and was published in 21st Century House by Jonathan Bell.

Sara continues to be inspired by global perspectives, practical construction science applications, and community-focused work. She served on the design committee for the Magnolia Montessori for All campus in East Austin, and later on the Long Range Planning Committee for the Austin Independent School District. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and served two terms as the treasurer for the Women in Architecture Committee, and one term as their Events Chair, before moving to San Diego in 2024.
