The Club Knoll project scope of work included the renovation, remodel, restoration and transformation of the former Naval Medical Center, which was founded in 1942, into a community recreation center. However, the most challenging aspect of the project, is that the 14,000SF+ building also needs to be moved nearly half a mile up an unimproved hill from it’s existing location to the new project site. Getting approval of the permits to move the building required a work plan detailing how and where to cut the building into 5 parts, how to move it, and how to put it back together again on the new site – all while making sure none of the 78-year old building falls apart and preserving its historically significant features.
