Located in the Village at La Jolla, Oyster Shell Condominiums had three different community groups overseeing the design. ACI’s services were initially called upon for entitlement processing for a rezone, lot tie, and local community design review board approvals. We proceeded with the project to develop the architectural and interior design.

As part of the village core, we felt the building façades and patios needed to be pedestrian friendly in order to engage with the very active street. We utilized the building materials to make the façade warm and inviting while maintaining a strong sense of place—the design employs a contemporary approach that also reflects many elements of classic prairie style architecture.
