The 46-home master planned community, built in 1994, was once the prestigious neighborhood of Santa Rosa, CA. The devastating firestorms of 2017 in Northern California completely wiped out the entire development. ACI was brought to this project to be the Architect of Record for the re-build, which quickly turned into a forensic endeavor. With incomplete plans from city records, we had to re-create construction documents for the homes using images from Google Maps and a plethora of homeowner interviews.

Beyond the sticks and bricks, this project is about the restoration of lives for the homeowners that lost everything in the fire. Margit Whitlock says of this project, “There has been no greater surprise than the rewards of helping strangers who have become family over time.”
